Prof. Dr. Sebastian Peitz has successfully acquired funding from the AIMS-DFG Collaboration Visits Program in the Mathematical Sciences. The program is jointly funded by the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) and the German Research Foundation (DFG ) and promotes the establishment of international research collaborations between scientists from Africa and Germany in the field of mathematical sciences - especially in early career phases.
In the project entitled "High-performance learning on large-scale, non-equidistant fluid data using novel convolutional neural networks (HiPerFluid)" , a cooperation is being established with AIMS Rwanda. The aim is to develop innovative machine learning approaches for analyzing complex fluid data and at the same time to strengthen international scientific exchange.
The AIMS-DFG Collaboration Visits Program enables research visits by German scientists to one of the six AIMS centers in Africa as well as guest visits by African researchers to German universities. The programme thus contributes significantly to the networking and internationalization of the mathematical research community.
The Department of Computer Science would like to congratulate Prof. Dr. Sebastian Peitz on successfully acquiring this funding and wishes him every success in implementing the project!
