Fatma Demircan, graduate of the Chair of Enterprise Computing, was awarded second place for her outstanding Bachelor's thesis in the competition organized by "Die Wirtschaftsinformatik - Verein zur Förderung der Wirtschaftsinformatik(Die WI) e.V.". The award ceremony took place as part of the 20th International Conference on Information Systems(WI25) on September 16, 2025 in Münster and is endowed with prize money of €500.
Her work is dedicated to a highly topical and socially significant issue: the ethical challenges of using Industrial Internet of Things technologies to capture cognitive workloads. In an increasingly networked world, in which data protection and ethical responsibility towards employees are becoming ever more central, the work provides important impulses for both science and practice.
Particularly noteworthy are the interdisciplinary approach and the inclusion of philosophical perspectives through which Fatma Demircan has developed design principles. These were evaluated through interviews with experts from the field and offer valuable orientation for companies as well as a well-founded contribution to the scientific discourse.
We congratulate Ms. Demircan on her award!
