At RoboCup 2025 in Salvador, Brazil, robot teams from all over the world once again competed against each other. Among them: the Nao Devils from TU Dortmund University.

This year's RoboCup - the world's largest event for autonomous robotic systems - took place in Salvador, Brazil, from July 15 to 21, 2025. More than 250 teams with over 2000 participants from 40 countries competed against each other in various leagues. In the Standard Platform League, the Nao Devils reached the quarter-finals, received the Best Referee Award and achieved an outstanding result with a strong second place in the Technical and Research Challenge.

In addition, five of the team's scientific contributions were accepted at the accompanying RoboCup Symposium.

However, this year's edition of the world's largest robotics competition was not only characterized by top international teams, but also marked a turning point: with the prospect of far-reaching restructuring in the leagues, a new era of humanoid robotics and AI research is on the horizon. The Nao Devils will be able to help shape this process in the Technical Committee.

Both the Departement of Computer Science at TU Dortmund University and the Alumni of Computer Science supported the Nao Devils' participation in the RoboCup.

Here you can find a detailed report on this year's competition and the upcoming restructuring.
