In 2025, the Department of Computer Science will be awarding the Sustainability Prize for the second time. All members of the department can participate

The Department of Computer Science at TU Dortmund University has been awarding a sustainability prize since 2024 to promote the commitment of its members to sustainable development. The award aims to highlight and support exemplary projects, create opportunities for engagement and connect sustainability stakeholders. In this way, the department aims to contribute to the 17 goals of the UN 2030 Agenda, which are intended to enable a decent life worldwide and preserve the natural foundations of human life in the long term.

The prize is awarded annually for sustainable innovations with computer science. Ideas, projects or project proposals that relate to the 17 goals of the UN Agenda 2030 can be submitted, e.g. software, apps, final theses or seminar papers, (concepts for) courses, etc. The prize is open to all members of the department.

After a successful first round in 2024, the submission phase for the Sustainability Award 2025 has now started. Submissions are possible until 15.9.25. Prize money of up to €1,000 will be donated this year by the Informatik Centrum Dortmund e.V.
