© TU Dortmund
New certificate program at TU Dortmund University on AI, water, and sustainable infrastructure. Applications due by October 21, 2026.

How can artificial intelligence, data-driven methods, urban planning, and engineering help make water systems more sustainable and resilient?

With its new WATER AI certificate program, TU Dortmund University offers students the opportunity to explore this question across disciplinary boundaries. The program combines perspectives from computer science, urban planning, architecture, and civil engineering. It is complemented by a practice-oriented mentoring program from the Wilo Group.

The program is open to enrolled students from all departments at TU Dortmund University who have already earned a bachelor’s degree and wish to expand their studies with an interdisciplinary qualification. Over the course of two semesters, participants earn at least 20 credit points (LP) and develop an individual profile at the intersection of artificial intelligence, water, infrastructure, and sustainable urban development.

The curriculum consists of three components: core modules, elective modules, and the Wilo Group’s mentoring program. Students select one core module from each of the three participating departments. This allows them to explore different disciplinary perspectives and integrate them with one another. Through the elective modules, they can delve deeper into their individual areas of interest and earn additional credit points. The mentoring program complements the academic content with practical insights into the water sector.

Enrolled students from all departments at TU Dortmund University who have already earned a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply. The number of spots is limited to 20 participants. The application deadline is October 21, 2026.
