Computing Service Group (IRB)
The Computing Service Group (IRB) is a central operating unit of the Department of Computer Science. It was founded in its early days to operate the faculty's first large central computer. Today, the IRB manages the entire department network as well as its integration into the university network and the worldwide Internet.
For department users, the IRB provides a wide range of centralized services network-wide, from e-mail to centralized data backup. It maintains the faculty's central pools for teaching. This support includes system administration, application software equipment, user administration, and hardware support. These services are also provided to chairs upon request. In all of these areas, the IRB provides planning, consulting, and procurement services to the faculty.
In addition to its activities for the faculty, the IRB also works on various projects, both independently and in cooperation with partners.
