Prof. Dr. Katharina Eggensperger has been Professor of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at the Lamarr Institute since the winter semester 2025/26.

Prof. Dr. Katharina Eggensperger has been Professor of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at the Lamarr Institute at TU Dortmund University since the winter semester 2025/26. Previously, she headed the research group "AutoML for Science" in the Cluster of Excellence Machine Learning for Science at the University of Tübingen from 2023 to 2025. She conducts research in the field of automated machine learning (AutoML) with a special focus on AutoML systems and hyperparameter optimization. In her inaugural lecture, Katharina Eggensperger will present her research in the field of (automated) machine learning. Her focus is on foundation models and benchmarking for tabular data. Among other things, she will discuss the further development of foundation models for tabular data and give an outlook on how they are changing the field of (automated) machine learning.
