On January 31, 2025, the GI Presidium adopted the draft prepared by the "Educational Standards for Secondary Level I" working group as a recommendation for computer science teaching after a brief consultation. These new educational standards replace the "Principles and Standards for Computer Science in Schools" from 2008, which had to be revised due to the rapid developments in computer science. With this recommendation, the GI has formulated contemporary standards that the federal states can use as a guide when revising their curricula.
An important contribution to the development of these educational standards came from Arno Pasternak, a scientist who has long rendered outstanding services to the Department of Computer Science at TU Dortmund University.
