Gaining international experience

Here you will find all important information about the options for studying abroad at the Faculty of Computer Science at TU Dortmund University.

News: On October 15th at 6 pm the first International Semester Kick-Off will take place in the Community Space of the Lamarr Institute, right next to the faculty building (Joseph-von-Fraunhofer Str 25, 3rd floor). It is aimed at our current incoming guests and all those who are interested in international affairs and stays abroad. Interested in joining us? Sign up now!

The world is moving closer together: economically and culturally. Accordingly, international experience is becoming increasingly important for personal development and professional success. For this reason, international networking is also very important for the Faculty of Computer Science and its members.

Over the years, many international contacts have been established and research projects realized. There are many opportunities for our students to gain experience abroad during their studies. At the same time, we are always happy to welcome international guests - whether for a complete course of study or a temporary stay through exchange programs.

Stays abroad can be realized in different ways and can therefore be adapted to individual interests. Roughly speaking, all stays can be divided into study, internship, thesis or short stay. We have summarized the possibilities for our outgoings here, and the International Office of TU Dortmund University also provides extensive information on its website

The Faculty of Computer Science organizes an information event on studying abroad at the beginning of the winter semester and at the beginning of each year. Further information, regular updates and the slides of past information events can be found in our Moodle (enrollment password “erasmus”). Applications for Erasmus+ stays are possible until the end of January (for the following winter and summer semester in the following year).

The International Semester Kick-Off will take place on October 15 from 6 p.m. in the Lamarr Institute Community Space (Joseph-von-Fraunhofer Str. 25, 3rd floor).

Engagement for Incomings

Active engagement enables foreign students to have a more pleasant stay at our faculty and allows international exchange without leaving Dortmund. Involvement can take many different forms:

  • Leisure activities (getting to know Dortmund and the surrounding area, cultural program)
  • Study assistance (working out timetables, joint study groups)
  • Other support (campus tour, handing over keys at the hall of residence)

We are very happy about any willingness to help - just send us a non-binding e-mail!
